COM3D is a modern CFD tool for the simulation of turbulent combustion processes in industry relevant scales. Its development was started at early 90's at Russian Research Center Kurchatov Institute and since 1995 is continued at Research Center Karlsruhe, Germany.
COM3D is based on the latest achievements in physics and numerics and s continuously developed. Main features include:
- 3D solutions of compressible Navier-Stokes equations
- Mesh: Equidistant Cartesian grid for complex geometries
- Gas-dynamics: Library of explicit solvers: van Leer, Lax-Wendroff, Roe, set of 2-order TVD schemes
- Thermodynamics: Multi-component mixtures with enthalpies and heat capacities of individual components as polynomial fits of JANAF tables
- Chemical interaction: EBU, extended EBU, presumed β-PDF
- Turbulence: standard k-ε, RNG (Renormalization Group Theory) k-ε models
- Platforms: Vectorized/Parallelized on Cray,
IBM (SP3, RISC), Futjitsu-Siemens VPP, Linux based clusters
